What does our pediatric care consist of? The Pediatric Consultation at IREGCI is the cornerstone of ensuring your children’s well-being from birth through adolescence. It’s not just about visiting the doctor when they are sick, but about establishing a relationship of trust and continuous follow-up that allows us to closely monitor each stage of your child’s physical, emotional, and social development.
Our specialists conduct a comprehensive assessment covering four key aspects:
We thoroughly examine each body system (ears, throat, lungs, heart, abdomen, and skin) to rule out abnormalities and ensure optimal health.
We measure weight, height, and head circumference to place them on growth charts (percentiles). This allows us to confirm that your child is growing at an appropriate rate and to detect nutritional or endocrine problems early.
We assess whether the child is reaching the developmental milestones expected for their age (holding their head up, sitting, walking, talking, socializing), which is vital for the early detection of neurological conditions.
We guide parents on the immunization schedule and provide specific feeding guidelines for each stage, from breastfeeding to the introduction of solids and the school diet.
Our Commitment We understand that a child's health is a parent's greatest concern. That's why at IREGCI, we offer a warm and empathetic environment where we not only treat the child, but also listen to, educate, and support the family in the beautiful task of raising children.

What is Neonatal Reception? Birth represents the most drastic physiological change in a human being’s life: the transition from depending on the mother inside the womb to breathing and living independently. Neonatal Reception is the set of expert medical care provided during these vital first moments to facilitate a successful and safe transition to life outside the womb.
At every birth (whether vaginal or cesarean), a neonatologist is present exclusively to care for your baby. Our protocol is divided into levels of care according to the newborn’s needs:
At IREGCI, our priority is that this first meeting with your child is a moment of happiness, backed by the peace of mind of knowing that an expert team is watching every second of their arrival.

What is a Well-Child Visit? A Well-Child Visit is the cornerstone of preventive pediatrics. Unlike emergency visits for illness, this is a scheduled and relaxed time designed to monitor your child’s physical, mental, and social development. At IREGCI, we see these visits as an opportunity to empower parents with information and ensure a healthy future for their child.
During this comprehensive check-up, our pediatricians focus on three essential pillars:
We accurately measure the child’s weight, height, and head circumference. This data is plotted on standardized growth charts (percentiles). The important thing is not just a single number, but observing the “curve” or trend over time to ensure the child is growing at a steady and appropriate rate, and to detect problems of malnutrition or overweight early on.
We assess whether the child is meeting the expected developmental milestones for their age. Can they hold their head up? Do they smile? Can they sit up on their own? Are they saying their first words? This neurodevelopmental monitoring is crucial for the early detection of delays or disorders that, when treated promptly, have a much better prognosis.
We perform a thorough “head to toe” examination: eyes, ears, heart, lungs, abdomen, genitals and musculoskeletal system, looking for any physical abnormality that might go unnoticed at home.
Why is it essential? Many health conditions don't present obvious symptoms in their early stages. Regularly attending Well-Child checkups at IREGCI ensures that any deviations in your child's health are identified and corrected immediately, guaranteeing a full and happy childhood.

The Challenge of Childhood Immunity: During childhood, the immune system is still developing and maturing. Therefore, it’s natural for children to be more susceptible to viral and bacterial infections than adults. At IREGCI, we understand the anxiety of seeing a child ill, which is why we offer rapid diagnosis and effective treatment to restore their health as quickly as possible.
Our pediatric team is trained for the comprehensive management of the most common and acute childhood illnesses, including:
From the common cold and the flu, to more complex conditions such as bronchiolitis, laryngitis, pneumonia, otitis (ear pain) and pharyngotonsillitis.
Management of acute gastroenteritis (diarrhea and vomiting), prevention and treatment of dehydration, intestinal parasitosis and abdominal pain.
Differential diagnosis of diseases that cause skin rashes, such as chickenpox, measles, rubella, roseola, or hand-foot-and-mouth disease.
Thorough evaluation of the child with fever to determine the source of the infection and rule out serious complications.
Timely diagnosis and treatment to prevent kidney damage.
Comprehensive Care and Follow-Up. Our work doesn't end with the prescription. We educate parents about "warning signs" (when to return to the emergency room) and provide clear guidelines for home care (hydration, fever management, nutrition). At IREGCI, we support your family until your child regains their smile and usual vitality.

What is the NICU? The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is IREGCI’s high-complexity medical area designed to provide life support to newborns requiring immediate, specialized care. It is a sterile, safe, and technologically advanced environment where we replace or assist the vital functions that the baby cannot yet perform independently, providing the time and care necessary for development and healing.
Our NICU is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to handle critical situations. We understand that seeing a baby surrounded by machines can be shocking, so it’s important to know what they do:
They simulate the environment of the mother’s womb, controlling the temperature and humidity to protect the baby’s delicate skin and prevent heat loss.

Advanced mechanical ventilators designed for the smallest lungs, which help the baby breathe when they cannot do so on their own or when their lungs are immature.
Non-invasive sensors that monitor heart rate, respiration, blood pressure and oxygenation minute by minute, alerting staff to even the slightest change.

24/7 Monitoring and Humanization: At IREGCI, technology is operated by an outstanding team. We have neonatologists and critical care nurses available 24 hours a day.
However, we firmly believe in “Humanizing the NICU.” We know that parental love is an integral part of medicine. Therefore, we foster early bonding, allowing parental access, promoting breastfeeding (including tube feeding if necessary), and skin-to-skin contact (Kangaroo Mother Care) as soon as the baby’s condition allows.

An empathetic approach to grief. At IREGCI, we understand that pregnancy loss is not just a medical event, but an emotionally devastating experience for the woman and her partner. Our primary goal during these difficult times is to provide a safe, intimate, and respectful environment where the patient feels supported and cared for while we address the clinical situation in the least traumatic way possible.
Depending on the weeks of gestation, the patient’s clinical condition and her preferences, we offer different alternatives for the management of spontaneous, missed or incomplete abortion:
Under strict medical supervision, specific medications are used to induce the controlled expulsion of pregnancy tissue. It is a less invasive option that avoids surgery, allowing the process to take place in a private setting, with ongoing telephone and in-person follow-up.
It is the preferred modern surgical technique because it is less invasive than traditional dilation and curettage (D&C). Using a soft cannula and negative pressure, the uterine contents are evacuated quickly and safely. It is performed under sedation (painless), has a very rapid recovery, and carries a lower risk of uterine damage, thus protecting future fertility.
Reserved for specific cases where aspiration is insufficient. It is performed in an operating room under anesthesia to carefully clean the uterine cavity and prevent infections or prolonged bleeding.
Comprehensive Support. Our commitment goes beyond the physical. We respect each patient's grief and offer support to close this chapter in good health. We perform follow-up ultrasounds to ensure the uterus is clean and healthy (without any remaining tissue), and we provide preconception counseling to determine the safe time to try again, when your body and heart are ready. At IREGCI, we care for you with the sensitivity this moment requires.
