At IREGCI, our first appointment is divided into 3 key moments. It’s not an exam, it’s a conversation between you, your partner, and the specialist.
1. The Interview (Medical History) The doctor will want to get to know you. They will ask questions about your general health, family history, lifestyle habits, and details about your sex life.
Tip: If you have previous test results or reports from other doctors, bring them! They will help us piece together the puzzle faster.
2. Her Evaluation (Gynecological Ultrasound) We will perform a specialized transvaginal ultrasound. Unlike a routine ultrasound, here we look for specific things:
We count your antral follicles (to estimate your ovarian reserve).
We examine the shape of your uterus.
We rule out cysts, fibroids, or polyps that may be acting as a “natural IUD.”
3. His Evaluation (We haven’t forgotten about them) 40% of infertility cases are male-related. That’s why at IREGCI we usually request a semen analysis (sperm test) if you haven’t had one recently. It is vital to know how many sperm there are and how they move before proposing any treatment to the woman.
Not necessarily, and that’s a good thing. Sometimes the doctor will order additional tests (such as hormone analysis or a video fallopian tube) to get the full picture.
